Wound Care Center at Piscataway Office

We are pleased to introduce you to our Wound Care Center in our Piscataway office. This area is dedicated to patients with non-healing, slow-healing and chronic wounds. Our practice has seen the need in New Jersey for increased diabetic wound care services and has answered the call with a dedicated treatment room and exclusive hours for our patients. Additionally, Dr. Panagakos has earned accreditations from the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing and the American Professional Wound Care Association.

25.6 million adults in the United States have been diagnosed with diabetes, according to the 2011 CDC National Diabetes Fact Sheet. In New Jersey alone, 589,000 adults are living with diabetes, yet in 2010 only 68% of these individuals have received a foot exam in the past year. This is the lowest percentage since 2002.

Comprehensive foot care programs, that include risk assessment, foot-care education and preventive therapy, treatment of foot problems, and referral to specialists, can reduce amputation rates by 45% to 85%.

The need for wound care can arise from several underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, neuropathy, peripheral arterial disease, autoimmune disease and general immobility. Our doctors understand that these are ongoing conditions and the importance of offering additional services so that patients have easy access to medical care for wounds on the foot, ankle and lower leg.

Our doctors offer patients an individualized, comprehensive plan of care to meet each patient’s specific medical needs. Appropriate and effective treatments are discussed and implemented, along with educational materials and resources relateded to wound prevention.

What separates Foot & Ankle Care Associates from other practices is our level of service, our quality of care and the experience of our doctors and staff. Our entire team will do everything they can to make sure your visits are professional, informative and pleasant. If you are a physician or specialist, we welcome your referrals and will provide excellent care for your patients requiring wound care.

Our doctors have professional credentials, are board certified and/or board eligible by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and treat patient wounds in all six locations. Our Piscataway office has a dedicated treatment room and exclusive hours for patients requiring ongoing wound care.
